Limited edition of 100 copies

Tanaka Shoten’s (Takashi / Anatomia, Wormridden, Necrophile etc) second release, AMPUTEE’s first release of 4 tracks “Syzygy”. Syzygy is the alignment of three celestial bodies, for example a planet, moon, and star. Musically it’s dwelling somewhere between CELTIC FROST and BATHORY – there’s even a BATHORY cover of “Reaper”.

AMPUTEE was born in an old meat locker in Brooklyn, NYC in 2007. The band converted the space to a studio and made their first demos in those dark confines. After building and dismantling three studios, scrapping three albums worth of material and never playing a show, the band went international with drummer/vocalist Skuld (SWAZÖND, WORSHIP PAIN) moving to Tokyo.

Being separated by half a planet didn’t stop the band. Skuld and guitarist Ruhin kept putting in the work. In 2014, Amputee joined up with Tøm Vøid (THRALL, from Australia) in Jersey City for a recording session.
Syzygy is the fruit of those labours. Two hours of riffage were recorded onto a single cell phone and distilled into three sprawling, heavy songs with bass and vocals overdubbed in Tokyo. For mixing, the band recruited Paul Miller and mastering was done at Studio DNA.
